a place for my father

March 13, 2009

My dad died on June 29th, 2007.  In May of 2008 we buried most of his ashes in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Spokane, Washington.  I took home a small container of his ashes when I returned home to Berkeley.  I put some of his ashes in Live Oak Park, at the Berkeley Marina, and at this place up the redwoods in the Oakland Hills.  I visit this area in the redwoods quite often and it’s always a very pleasant relaxing place to be.  I felt I wanted to give my dad some additional resting places that I had found in my city.  It’s a little strange to be posting this type of thing with photos and everything, but I felt I wanted to for documentation reasons.  Here’s a few photos of the little place I put some of dad in the redwoods.  The last time I visited there I put 3 pieces of beach glass along with the original pine cones and rocks I originally started the marker with.  I also planted some wild flower seeds so hopefully those will grow into flowers.
